Big Fish – Hitting the Big Time

The bar in Big Fish, Barcelona

Relatively new on the scene in Barcelona, Big Fish opened up a couple of months ago in the Borne, behind the market, and close to La Paradeta.

While being new, it’s already very popular with locals who enjoy their fusion dishes. All dishes are inspired by Japanese cuisine, and they’re all pretty damn good!

It’s a bit pricey, but if you have the calamari with chutney or the sushi, you won’t be disappointed. You’d mainly want to go there to have one of the many fish dishes than anything else. Have a nice bottle of wine at the same time if you want!

When it comes to deserts, the selection isn’t all that great, so fill yourself up with the sushi beforehand.

The whole décor is also very nice. If you are going to book a table in advance, ask for a table at one of the sofas. They have very cool chesterfield sofas in Big Fish, one of my personal favorites.

The bar is also very cool, and the lamp dangling from the ceiling is as big as it is impressive. Even the toilets are very cool indeed, so just go for it when you’re there. Well, if you have to that is.

After dinner, I’d suggest going for a cocktail. There’s a bar called “Incognito” around the corner which is one of the best in the area, and isn’t all that well known.

Enjoy!

Hi, I'm very happy to have followed your suggestion to have dinner in this restaurant. Thanks to you my boyfriend and I have discovered an extraordinary restaurant, thanks so much! The restaurant is very nice, very classy. The waiters are very friendly and professional. The waiting time between courses is not long. And...the food...I'm still salivating. We ordered sushi to share for starters; I've tried many Japanese restaurants in the past and I've never had such good sushi! 18 pieces for 24 euros. After I ordered noodles with soba sauce (normally in the starters list but it's a large enough portion), 12 euro if I remember well. My boyfriend ordered the tuna...divine, with an exceptional guacamole sauce. He ordered it rare and it was a great choice; next time I go there (which I'm going to do, and soon!) I'm going to order the same, I tried his and I really recommend it if you go. We also had a bottle of red wine (16€) and my boyfriend had desserts (6€). In total we paid 80€. In summary, I strongly recommend this place, and I want to thank www.infocostabrava.com for passing on this great tip about Big Fish. Cheers. Sam
