Poble Espanyol – Re-live the Past

Barcelona, Poble Espanyol Street

Oddly enough, very few people go to Poble Espanyol (the Spanish Village), and even the locals often don’t know how magical this place is. Poble Espanyol was built in 1928 as part of Spain’s International Exhibition, and was supposed to last for only one year. The idea of Poble Espanyol was to build a city that would include styles from all the regions in Spain, and it did just that.

Even though all the buildings are in different styles, they all go together somehow, and if the buildings didn’t have labels indicating where they were from, you would think the village was supposed to be like this and had been there for ages.

I’ve visited this village on numerous occasions, and it never ceases to amaze me. I must have taken hundreds of pictures there just trying to capture the magic, but don’t worry, it’s still there. If you’re going to be in Barcelona, this place is definitely worth a visit - and the twelve Euros they charge aren’t going to go to waste.

If all this hasn’t convinced you, here’s another interesting fact about Poble Espanyol: the orgy in the movie “The Perfume” was filmed there on the main square!
