L'Antic Teatre – Mojitos at €3,50 During Happy Hour
The Antic Teatre is a members-only venue with one of the least appealing entrance doors in town. In a small sidestreet from the Palau de la Música Catalana you will find a small entrance with an even smaller staircase leading to an enourmous and very surprising two-storey terrace.
Once you make it to the terrace, you will be impressed by the sheer size of it, and the tranquility of the place. As I said, it’s a members-only venue, but you can buy a membership card at the bar whilst ordering a drink. A one-year membership will set you back three Euros only - less than a drink. This might also be the reason why this place is so popular with students. Cheap drinks and a great environment are hard to resist.
The décor goes with the prices: simple, lino-covered tables and director’s chairs will be what’s awaiting you. Expect none of the fancy-pantsy outdoor furniture arrangements that are so popular in other sun-lit spots in the more trendy areas of the city. Which makes sense as the local is a non-profit organisation which is devoted to promote the visual arts. It’s the reason why some nights they play old movies on one of the walls of the terrace. You may get lucky and see classics as “Masters of the Universe” when visiting!
